General Summary:
Provides leadership in the Worship and Christian Education of the Youth
and Young Adult members and visitors of Dundee Presbyterian. This is a
full time equivalent position.
Essential Job Functions:
-
Provides leadership in specific worship events
including but not limited to Christmas Eve Family Service, Ash
Wednesday, Youth Sunday, Camp Sunday and others as directed by the
Senior Pastor and Session.
- Works with
the Senior Pastor in the general Youth Ministries of the Church,
such as counseling, committee work and organizing programs.
- Coordinator
of all Youth Ministries (grades 7-12). Provides leadership of
vision, support, guidance in the Christian Education programs to
develop, oversee, train, guide and supervise all aspects of Youth
Ministries.
- Young Adult
(college and career age): Develop, oversee, train, guide and
supervise all aspects of the College/Young Adult Ministry.
- Primary
leader of Camp Dundee working with the Senior Pastor and Children’s
Ministries.
- Supervises,
oversees, and evaluates the Christian Education areas for 7-12,
college and young adults.
- Recruit,
coordinate volunteers and develop leadership for College and Young
Adult Ministries.
- Work with
Christian Education Committees and staff to develop and oversee the
annual Christian Education Budget for Senior Minister’s review and
approval.
- Takes part in
New Member Orientation meetings.
- Attends Staff
Meetings and maintains a cooperative leadership relationship with
all members of the staff and congregation.
- Performs
other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor or Session.

First Presbyterian is a 550 member PC(USA) church located in western
North Carolina and is a Bible-based congregation. We are partnering
(50/50) with “Youth for Christ “ to fill a need for a Youth
Director. This need is to minister to the youth of our church and
the youth of the Hendersonville community (middle school and high
school). The most important aspects of this position are a strong
Christian faith and interest in youth.
The Youth Director will work closely with our Associate Pastor for
Children’s Ministry to help build the church’s youth and family
commitment to Christ and church attendance. Duties include
planning, organizing and teaching Wednesday night and Sunday
programs, attending “out of church” activities such as sporting and
music events, mission trips both planning and fundraising,
recruiting volunteers to work with the youth and offering personal
counsel to youth and/or their parents or guardians as the need
arises. Also it will be necessary to work closely with the staff of
“Youth for Christ” in the local schools.
Salary $30,000 plus benefits.

Presbyterian Church is seeking a creative and gifted Christian
leader who can build on the successes of youth ministry in the
past and also help take us in some new directions. This is a
full-time position working with junior and senior highs, and
also with college students whenever feasible. We are looking for
a sincere, engaging, self-motivated, dedicated Christian,
growing in his/her own faith and who is also excited and
passionate about helping young people grow in their relationship
with God.
The Youth
Director will:
- seek to
develop positive relationships with youth, parents, Sunday
School teachers, advisors, Youth Committee, etc.
- equip the
youth to grow in Christian discipleship
- assist
our youth in increasing their knowledge and understanding of the
Bible and how Scripture applies to their lives
- foster
genuine Christian fellowship, helping to make the youth groups a
place of affirmation, acceptance, challenge, and belonging
- help our
youth develop Christian character, a Christian world-view, and a
Christian value system that will give guidance about right and
wrong and will assist our youth in raising questions and finding
answers concerning the moral and ethical issues of the day
- lead our
youth in discerning what it means to be a Christian in today’s
world
- organize
hands-on mission projects that will have our youth putting their
faith into practice in tangible ways through service in this
community and beyond
- help
teenagers and parents survive and thrive during the always
interesting and sometimes difficult years of adolescence
- help this
church use creatively its $1.1 million endowment which must be
used to enhance youth ministry (currently some $75,000 is taken
annually from this fund)
Preferred
Minimum Requirements:
- a
bachelor’s degree
- some
experience in church youth work
- knowledge
of and commitment to the beliefs and government of the
Presbyterian Church USA, or a willingness to learn
- good
relational, communication, and organizational skills
- budget

Position
Description: To lead in the development, coordination,
oversight, evaluation and staffing in all areas of children’s
ministry from preschool through 6th grade. To build relationships
with kids, parents and volunteers through Sunday morning, midweek,
special events, personal communications and other ministry settings.
Position Goals:

Create exciting learning environments for
children in order to increase their understanding of God’s love
for them and encourage a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Support
and partner with parents in the spiritual formation of their
children.

Ensure sound and relevant curriculum is
selected and used that teaches Biblical principles and truths
appropriate for the various developmental levels within the
ministry purview.

Assist in the development of a strong
volunteer and leadership staff by implementing dynamic
recruiting, training, motivating and support systems that will
in turn be able to reach the lost, disciple the found and
inspire all children to live as fully-devoted followers of
Christ.
Essential Job Functions:

Lead recruitment and training of ministry
volunteers and substitutes. Work with volunteers so that they
are knowledgeable about expectations, well-equipped to lead and
engage children, and committed to the goals of the Children’s
Ministry.
- Establish
a vision for future growth for the Children’s Ministry. Set
goals and objectives, and clear measures of success.
- Manage
use of facilities, plan appropriate budget for programs,
delegate as appropriate and evaluate progress on a regular
basis.
- Lead in
the review and selection of curriculum materials and educational
tools for children's ministries programs.
- Plan,
staff and oversee Sunday morning and mid-week children’s
activities so that they are engaging, spiritually enriching, and
well-organized.
- Provide
leadership for summer children’s activities, including Vacation
Bible School.
- Work with
ministry team and staff to plan, organize and help lead Dundee
Summer Camp.

Participate and lead in worship as appropriate.
- Develop
and implement a system that equips staff and volunteers to
ensure a welcoming, safe and structured environment.
